Volvo XC90 Refresh and XC60 Volvo Ocean Race edition now on our shores

It has been with us for nearly a decade. Now one of the most-iconic SUV on our local roads, the XC90 receives a well-deserving facelift, now complete with both exterior upgrades and performance improvements.
Up close and personal, despite only having subtle aesthetical changes, the XC90 does not seem to have aged at all. To achieve this Volvo has bestowed the XC90 with LED treatments both at the front and rear. The new model also receives body-coloured panels for its lower bumper assemblies, accentuating a more sophisticated outlook. As part of the sporty enhancements, new alloy designs are now available.
Developed in collaboration with Polestar, the powerplant for the T5 R-Design XC90 now boosts 240hp and 370 Nm of torque – increase from the base 210hp and 320Nm. More notable is the enhancement in power figures are done without a compromise on fuel efficiency.
XC60 Volvo Ocean Race editionFor the fourth time in history, Volvo has launched a model range with a unique theme – sail racing, inspired by the most gruelling sea race on our planet. Only produced in limited numbers, the XC60 is available in either Volvo Ocean Blue II or Electric Silver (just ten units will be bound for local shores). The limited edition variant will receive unique alloy design, chromed detailing, as well as Volvo Race emblems.

Gracing the event was Mr Peter Johnson, Vice President Sales & Marketing Volvo Car Asia, who gave us an brief of the marque’s adoption of ‘green’ technologies. In addition, we had an insightful interview with Mr Johnson.
Starring the eco-lineup is the V60 plug-in hybrid, which boosts real-world practicality with huge savings in running costs and extremely low emissions. Dubbed the most technically-advanced Volvo ever, the V60 allows users to choose from three driving modes, Pure; Hybrid; or Power. This offers flexibility to the users, who can choose to go emission-free in Pure, or request for more oomph on tap when the situation calls for it in Power model.
