Zagato reveals new A220-inspired AGTZ Twin Tail

Zagato has revealed the AGTZ Twin Tail, a car that is said to take the exquisite art of coachbuilding into a bold new era.
The product of a tie-up between Zagato a dealer based in Poland that goes by the name of La Squadra, the AGTZ Twin Tail is based on the A110 Berlinette, and was inspired by the A220, a car designed to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, although it was not entirely successful in doing so.
The AGTZ Twin Tail comes with a removable rear that allows owners to have their car with either the elegance of a longtail or the muscular punch of a shorttail
But, as it turns out, its early motorsport failures would turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as the designers of the A220 eventually sliced the tail of the car short in a bid to create a lither design to give the car a new opportunity to compete on shorter circuits and rally stages.
The AGTZ Twin Tail thus follows this history by being offered with a removable rear, allowing users to choose between either the tailored elegance of a longtail or the muscular punch of a shorttail. And when the shorttail is chosen, the removed section can enliven a garage or serve as an exquisite piece of sculpture.
Zagato states that both long and shorttail examples of classic A220 will be on display at the International Concours of Elegance at St. Moritz on 23 February 2024, while the AGTZ Twin Tail will make its full public debut on the shores of Lake Como on May 2024.
Only 19 examples of the AGTZ Twin Tail will be made, and Zagato states that its order books are filling fast. The firm will start customer deliveries in October 2024.
