capricorn presents second prototype of 01 Zagato hypercar

Months after the first capricorn 01 Zagato prototype was unveiled at the Zoute Grand Prix in Belgium, capricorn has unveiled a second one at the 2026 Salon Retromobile, which was held in Paris from 27 January to 1 February 2026.

Both capricorn 01 Zagato hypercars are fully functional and drivable prototypes, with a third example currently in development at the brand's production facility in Monchengladbach. All three will play an important role in capricorn's test and calibration programme as an upcoming, handbuilt production run strictly limited to 19 coupes is set to commence later in 2026.

The capricorn 01 Zagato is described as a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive, manual transmission hypercar, engineered and handbuilt by capricorn in Germany. And the global unveiling of the second prototype saw new exterior and interior colours revealed to the public for the first time, as well as technical improvements from the first prototype that include an 888bhp 5.2-litre V8 engine, five-speed manual transmission, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and three driving modes.

Its LMP1-inspired, all-carbon fibre monocoque body and chassis of the capricorn 01 Zagato has also undergone intensive evaluation, as has the double wishbone and pushrod Bilstein damper suspension system.

capricorn has said that the first customer deliveries of its capricorn 01 Zagato hypercar will happen in 2026 following an intensive and rapid development process.
