Having first had its global preview in April at the 2025 Auto Shanghai, Zeekr has now officially launched its 9X model in China. The six-seat, full-sized luxury SUV is also the brand's first plug-in hybrid model, following a lineup of successive battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models in the past few years.
As the first model built on Zeekr's SEA-S platform, the 9X employs a full-stack 900V architecture, and comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine under its long squarish hood that puts out 271bhp. Coverage of the launch in China indicates that four variants will be available domestically, and as standard, this engine will work in tandem with two electric motors (one each on the front and rear axles) to power the hunkering SUV.
Opt for the two higher-end variants, however, and an additional electric motor is thrown into the mix. The tri-motor configuration sees a 290kW electric motor powering the front wheels, with the two rear wheels getting a 370kW electric motor each. In this setup, the 9X boasts an incredible system output of 1,030kW (1,381bhp), and can complete the century sprint in a scant 3.1 seconds.
For a plug-in hybrid, the 9X has considerable range too. A choice of two battery sizes will be available - 55kWh and 70kWh - which offer a CLTC-rated electric-only range of between 300-380km.
On the latter, the 9X's powerful electric architecture supports what Zeekr calls "6C charging", which enables a 20-80% charge in about nine minutes, and a 10-80% charge in slightly over 10 minutes.
Finally, as mentioned in our coverage of the preview back in Auto Shanghai, the 9X will also come loaded with flagship-level luxury and technology, including the debut of Zeekr's G-Pilot H9 autonomous driving system.
At launch in China, prices for the 9X start from the equivalent of around $84,500 (RMB 465,900) for the cheapest variant. Pre-orders began on 29 August 2025, with Zeekr confirming that deliveries will commence from the start of October 2025. The brand has also said that a variant of the 9X will begin shipping in late November 2025.
As of press time, however, there is still no confirmation on whether the 9X is bound for Singapore.
