The all new Subaru Forester e-Boxer has achieved the maximum five star overall rating in the 2019 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) safety performance test.
The new Subaru Forester e-Boxer has registered outstanding scores in all four assessment areas: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users, Safety Assist, scoring well above the minimum threshold required and with a noticeable high overall average.
The all new Forester also achieved the highest score ever in its class for the Child Occupant Protection test. This superior crash safety performance has been achieved thanks to the Subaru Global Platform.
The platform brings significant enhancement to the body and chassis rigidity, including an increase in front lateral flexural rigidity (by 90%), torsional rigidity (70%), front suspension rigidity (70%), and rear sub frame rigidity (100%). Impact energy absorption is also improved by 40% over outgoing models. Together with this solid body structure, safety features such as seven airbags, including one Supplemental Restraint System knee airbag installed for the driver's seat ensure collision safety performance of the Forester.
New advanced safety technologies have also been employed. It is available as standard with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology (providing Autonomous Emergency Braking, lateral support functions and other functions) and adding to its increased safety package are Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection, Reverse Automatic Braking, Side View Monitor and Driver Monitoring System, and a new facial recognition technology that alerts the driver when detecting signs of fatigue or distraction while on the road.
