Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have announced the launch of Ignite, a joint charitable initiative with the mission of supporting greater diversity and inclusion within motorsport.

Ignite was built on the recommendations of The Hamilton Commission, and will form an integral part of Mercedes' shared vision for developing the automotive industry and wider society. It will work on attracting diverse talent to the motorsport industry, and ignite and inspire enthusiasm for motorsport through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

The initiative will develop exciting and stimulating STEM curriculum materials, enhance education enrichment opportunities around STEM and motorsport, and provide financial support to talented students wishing to pursue careers in STEM and motorsport.

Ignite will initially be funded by a multi-million dollar fund created by Lewis and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, and will work closely with Lewis' personal foundation, Mission 44, to create tangible results for the wider motorsport industry.
