Volkswagen and British oil and gas company bp have launched their first innovative Flexpole charger in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The Flexpole charger sports an integrated battery storage system directly requiring it to only be connected to a low voltage grid, which removes the requirement for a dedicated substation and costly construction work, significantly reducing installation times while still providing fast charging speeds of up to 150kW.
The firm state that they plan to roll out up to 8,000 charge points with this innovative charger across Germany, the U.K. and other European countries by the end of 2024.
