The 159 is set to be replaced in 2012 by the Alfa Romeo Giulia, according to the Fiat Group's product plans for 2010 to 2014. But in the meantime, Alfa Romeo has given the 159 a few minor updates to keep the car refreshed and competitive.

Aside from the introduction of two new engines for the 159 announced recently, which include the 1.75-litre turbocharged petrol that produces 200bhp, and the 2.0-litre JTDM turbo diesel unit that churns out 170bhp, Alfa Romeo has also added new equipment to the 159 range.

Among them include new upholstery and trim options for both the 159 and 159 Sportwagon models, as well as the introduction of four new equipment packages similar to those offered on the Giulietta and MiTo hatchbacks, which are the Comfort Pack, Sport Pack, Comfort Plus Pack and TI Plus Pack.
