Alfa Romeo and Jeep to depart Singapore market

Could Singapore be looking at the extended departure of two heritage-steeped brands that have recently struggled to find footing here?
The Straits Times has reported that the Alfa Romeo and Jeep dealership under Komoco Holdings-run Capella Auto will close by June this year, and that the brands' joint showroom at 1 Chang Charn Road has been emptied out.
Models such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio (left/above) and Jeep Grand Cherokee L (right/below) were still listed for sale on Sgcarmart as of the time of this article's publishing
Sgcarmart understands that the Maserati showroom at 30 Leng Kee Road is currently doubling as a retail space for both brands, until their operations officially cease in June. At press time, both brands also still have cars listed for sale, with Alfa Romeo retailing the Tonale, Stelvio and Giulia; and Jeep retailing the Grand Cherokee L and four-door Wrangler Sahara.
Per The Straits Times report, Komoco Holdings' decision to relinquish distributorship of both brands came after considerations of how they "fit into [the Group's] overall business strategy".
The news of the dealership closure also ostensibly comes as both brands have struggled to find favour with Singaporean buyers. Individually, Jeep and Alfa Romeo have been unable to sell more than 25 cars annually from 2022 to 2024 - and this, despite the fact that all hasn't been entirely quiet for the two brands in terms of product launches over the past two years.
2023 alone saw the arrival of the Tonale crossover, and updated Stelvio and Giulia for Alfa Romeo, while a 2.0-litre five-seater variant of the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee landed on our shores in the same year. This was followed by a 3.6-litre V6-powered, six-seater Grand Cherokee L variant just last year.
Still, both brands have experienced lacklustre demand for their cars, with Capella Auto only registering 20 units for Alfa Romeo, and 24 units for Jeep in 2024. The performance of both brands is roughly on par with those of super-luxury marques such as Ferrari and Bentley, which registered 24 and 25 units for the year respectively through their authorised dealers.
Sgcarmart understands that 2025 would have seen both brands introduce fresh models that had the potential to shake up the compact space in Singapore too.
2025 would have seen Alfa Romeo and Jeep introduce brand-new nameplates to the Singapore market, including the Alfa Romeo Junior and Jeep Avenger
Jeep had targeted a Q3 2025 launch for the Jeep Avenger (whose all-electric variant would have marked its first electric model in Singapore), while Alfa Romeo was set to bring in the Alfa Romeo Junior (also available in fully-electric form internationally) sometime in the second half of the year. This latest development has since thrown the arrival of the cars into uncertainty.
Internationally, the picture for Alfa Romeo in particular has appeared bleak as well. The Italian brand's lineup in the U.S.A, for example, recently underwent slight 'restructuring' following reports that indicated sales of its models were lagging significantly behind those of segment-contenders from German makes.
Worth noting is that the departure of Jeep from Komoco Group marks the end of a nearly twenty-year old partnership, which began in 1996.
Komoco Holdings' love affair with Alfa Romeo, on the other hand, only began in 2023 after the latter separated from its previous longtime dealer, EuroAutomobile.
Still, the disintegration of this partnership now is no less momentous, considering the plans Komoco had laid out to revitalise the brand locally. When it first announced its appointment as official dealer for Alfa Romeo in January 2023, it had teased a slew of engagement events and activities specially catered towards the enthusiasts of the brand (dubbed the 'Alfa Romeo' tribe). The launch of the Alfa Romeo Tonale during the 2023 Singapore GP period, for instance, saw Formula One drivers, Zhou Guanyu and Valteri Bottas, gracing the event.
