Mazda has also lengthened the rear cushions of the BT-50 Freestyle by 50mm for improved thigh support and more stable fitment of child seats while the seatback height has been increased by 128mm compared to the current model. The rear seat cushions can also be removed for more cabin space. The BT-50 Freestyle also has a bigger carrying capacity, with an overall cargo volume of 1,453 litres, an increase of 266 litres.
Mazda will launch the BT-50 Freestyle Cab pick-up at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne this July, following the introduction of the BT-50 compact pick-up at the same show, which was held in Sydney last year. The BT-50 was jointly developed with Ford, and will be offered for sale globally later this year.
“Just as we were delighted to be given the privilege of hosting the global debut of the All-New BT-50 Dual Cab in Sydney last year, we are equally delighted to be hosting the global debut of the Freestyle Cab in Melbourne this year,” said Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson. “With Australia expected to be the largest market for the All-New BT-50 it's no coincidence that we've been asked to host not one but two global unveilings of this important new model. It's only appropriate that the Australian public see it first."

The BT-50 Freestyle Cab pick-up features a door configuration similar to the RX-8 coupe, with a full-size front-hinged door and a smaller rear access panel on either side of the cabin. With its pillar-less design, the Freestyle Cab boasts a 1,408mm wide opening for easier entry to and exit from the front or rear seats.
