Iconic Porsche 911 will take the centre stage at Goodwood Festival of Speed

At the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is customary for one automaker to be honoured at the event with a bespoke sculpture at the main 'Central Feature'. This year that honour goes to 50th Anniversary celebrating Porsche 911 - at the 2013 Festival of Speed that will run from the 11th till the 14th of July.

The bespoke 911-inspired sculpture will be a highly distinctive 'installation' prominently displayed outside Goodwood House. Besides the 911 that marks its 50th anniversary, the Festival of Speed itself is running for the past 20 years and from 1993 till today, the 911 has been present at every Goodwood Festival.

Over 820,000 Porsche 911's have been built since 1963, and examples of each generation's 911 will be present at the 2013 Festival of Speed, along with other important competition Porsches, like the 908, 917 and 962 models.

In addition to Goodwood, Porsche will be celebrating the 911's 50th anniversary around the world, including the U.S.A, China, Continental Europe and Australia on top of a special '50 years of the Porsche 911' special exhibition at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
