The Straits Times reported that trains plying along the East-West Line operated at reduced speeds due to a track circuit failure.
Responding to queries by the local paper, a spokesman for SMRT cited that the problem occurred at Clementi station this morning at 7:19am, after which signallers were immediately deployed to assess the situation. The local paper also reported that recovery action between Clementi and Dover stations is underway and trains will be moving at a slower speed in light of passengers' safety.
Despite the incident, no information about the service disruption or delay in train services were found on SMRT's Twitter feed.
In a separate incident, the North-East Line, managed by SBS Transit, also faced problems after train services towards Harbourfront station were delayed at around 8:45am for roughly 25 minutes. According to SBS Transit's Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Tammy Tan, one of the trains had to be manually driven after developing a fault at Dhoby Ghaut station. She also added that investigations were ongoing.
Train services resumed by 9:40am.
