Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the hardy 2.0-litre powerplant pumps out 247bhp and 353Nm of torque to the front corners. Opt for the Performance Pack and the power figure increases significantly to 271bhp.

Still, power aside, the i30 N is an enormously entertaining driver's car because it manages to be very usable on a daily basis, and yet be meaty enough to head to the track for a couple of neck-breaking laps. Best part of all, there's an option to rev match your shifts, which means less power loss and a smoother transition whenever a downshift is required. Thanks to its 2.0-litre powerplant, the front wheels get 241bhp and 370Nm of torque via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, allowing the car to get to the 100km/h mark in just 6.4 seconds.
