Volvo has pulled the covers of its first electric sedan: The all-new ES90. Combining the elegance of a sedan, the adaptability of a fastback, and the spaciousness and higher ground clearance of SUVs, the car - according to Volvo - eliminates the compromises between those three segments and stands in a class of its own.
Designed to evolve over time, and powered by next-generation core computers representing a significant improvement over the previous generation, the ES90 is the first Volvo car with 800V technology, offering a longer range and faster charging. At 350kW fast charging stations, the ES90 can add 300km of range in just 10 minutes and offers a WLTP range of up to 700km.
Front features include Thor's Hammer headlight design, with the rear features including new C-shaped LED rear lamps complemented by LED lamps in the rear window. Customers can choose from seven exterior colours and four wheel options varying from 20-inch to 22-inch in size. The ES90 provides up to 424 litres of loading space, which goes up to 733 litres with the three rear seats folded down. It also has a 22-litre frunk that can house the charging cables perfectly.
Thanks to its long wheelbase of 3,100mm, the ES90 provides very generous legroom for its second-row passengers. Further interior personalisation options include six interior ambient light themes for sensory well-being and a variety of upholster options. A panoramic roof provides UV protection of up to 99.9%, and the electrochromic version allows for adjustment of transparency of the glass. Volvo also states that the ES90 offers superior sound comfort, making its cabin one of their quietest ever.
Equipped with Volvo's latest new-generation infotainment system with Google built in, it is powered by the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform for Qualcomm Technologies and provides driving-critical information through the nine-inch driver display and the head-up display.
Meanwhile, its 14.5-inch centre screen display allows for access to features such as navigation, entertainment, and climate. The ES90 will also be built on Volvo's SPA2 architecture, which consists of one single set of hardware and software modules that allow the brand to improve the overall performance and safety technology in the car and roll them out quickly via over-the-air updates across all models.
The new Volvo ES90 is now available for order in most of Europe, with subsequent entry into other markets later in 2025 and in 2026.
