There's the 2014 Lotus Elite, the 2013 Elan, the 2015 Eterne, the 2015 Elise, and last but not least, the 2013 Esprit.
The Esprit name garnished one of the best supercars of the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's. It was a low, plastic wedge with a mid-mounted Nuclear reactor.
Over its 28 year life, the original Esprit's power came from a selection of turbo-four's, and a twin-turbo V8. The new Esprit derives its Nuclear energy from a Toyota 5.0-litre V8, with a supercharger bolted to the top.
This engine produces a massive 620 horsepower, which is enough to launch the new Esprit to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The top speed is equally impressive at 329 km/h.
If that's not enough grunt for you. The optional KERS Hybrid system will store energy recovered from braking. Then, at the push of a button, it can release more of a boost than 2 large bottles of NOS.
James Bond only wishes his Esprit had that.
For the same money, you could have a Porsche 911 Turbo S, or a Mercedes SLS AMG. But the Esprit is somehow, a bit more "cool".
Expect the production version to hit Lotus dealers sometime in 2013.
