17 Jan 2025|127 views
Aston Martin has introduced the new Vantage Roadster, which is the most potent, front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car now available with open-air driving. A technical reinvention of the Vantage Coupe, it carries over the Active Vehicle Dynamics, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff), and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers with bespoke tuning.
The 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine delivers 656bhp and 800Nm of torque, sent through an eight-speed, paddle-shift transmission to an electronically controlled limited slip differential driving the rear wheels alone. The Vantage Roadster attains a top speed of 325km/h and a century sprint timing of 3.5 seconds.
Created in-house and first introduced on the DB12, the Vantage Roadster is the latest model to feature Aston Martin's next-generation infotainment. The system combines a fully integrated multi-screen system with full online connectivity, featuring 10.25-inch Pure Black touchscreen technology with full capacitive single and multi-finger gesture control.
Three new paint colours, Iridescent Sapphire, Satin Iridescent Sapphire, and Bronze Flare have been added to the paint palette, while the Vantage Roadster's roof can be specified in Black, Red, Blue, or Black and Silver. A selection of paint liveries can also be applied in a choice of 21 complimentary colours.
Brake discs measuring 410mm at the front (with carbon ceramic brakes) is clamped by six piston monoblock callipers, with the necessary grip provided by bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres, with four 21-inch wheel styles also available in a range of finishes together with one of seven different colour choices of brake callipers.
The roof itself comes in 'Z-fold' configuration, which is both faster and lighter than a traditional 'K-fold' roof and removes the requirement for a tonneau cover. It can be opened or closed at any speed of up to 50km/h, with the entire roof fold operation taking just 6.8 seconds. This nifty operation can be performed so long as the operator is within a two-metre radius of the car. Including the roof and all structural enhancements such as weight-optimised shear panels, composite body panels, and lightweight aluminium structure, the car has a total weight increase of only 60kg.
Deliveries of the Vantage Roadster will commence in the second quarter of 2025.
