Aston Martin and Bowmore distillery have unveiled a new ARC-52 Mokume Edition exclusive vintage whisky.
The exceptionally rare 52-year old malt comes in a futuristic vessel, said to be the product of the engineering and exquisite design of Aston Martin alongside the attention to detail and craftsmanship of Bowmore.
It additionally takes its name from the Japanese metalworking technique of 'Mokume-Gane' which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. The design of the rest of the decanter, meanwhile, is said to take after the principles of Aston Martin design - to create proportions that look stable, yet refined and light.
The ARC-52 Mokume Edition will be presented for auction at Sotheby's in London on 26 May with proceeds to be donated to The Bowmore Legacy fund. The winning bidder of the ARC-52 Mokume Edition will additionally have the opportunity to enjoy an experience at Bowmore Distillery and also get behind the wheel of the limited edition Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition whilst on Islay.
