During the four hours in the morning, Lucas di Grassi, Loic Duval, Tom Kristensen in car #1, Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer in the second R18 as well as Filipe Albuquerque, Marco Bonanomi in the #3 Audi put all the work into track action.
In addition to the final aerodynamic configuration, the mechanically generated grip was another focal point of the program.
Furthermore, all eight drivers had the first opportunity at Le Mans to align their race cars and their personal driving styles with the energy consumption targets which the regulations specifically define for each track.
During the course of 125 laps, the drivers met the requirements set by the engineers to use the afternoon for extensive tyre tests. The objective was to test the performance of the fundamentally new tyre generation over the long run.
The rhythm of Audi's test session was only interrupted in a minor way by three red flag sessions.
