Audi opens its fifth charging hub, located in Munich

Even as Mercedes is scheduled to open its first two Mercedes-branded charging hubs, Audi has already opened its fifth such charging hub, this time located in Munich.
The latest hub joins existing ones already operating in Nuremberg, Zurich, Berlin, and Salzburg, and offers four charging points which offer up to 320kW of charging power. These can be booked in advance via the myAudi app for greater user convenience.
As before, this latest charging hub continues to utilise used lithium-ion batteries from Audi's own decommissioned research vehicles. These act as buffer storage units, allowing the charging hubs to offer high-powered charging without taxing the local energy grid. The batteries are said to be able to store up to 1.05MWh of energy, said to be enough to allow 60 vehicles to charge before charging power begins to slowly decrease.
The new charging hub is said to be located in the south of Munich in a residential area with attractive shopping facilities, restaurants and cafes as well as sports and leisure facilities. Drivers of vehicles from other brands will also be able to utilise the charging hub, and can pay for the charging session via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
