Dubbed the F30, the car needs no further introduction to our local public. Read our review of the 328i, 335i. Likewise in Indonesia, the car was unveiled amidst great anticipation. Sharing his enthusiasm for the launch is Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, "The BMW 3 Series has been a key factor in establishing the worldwide reputation of the BMW brand. We thank our customers in Indonesia who are part of the 12 million people worldwide who have purchased a BMW 3 Series since 1975. In doing so, they have made the BMW 3 Series the most successful series in the premium segment."

Onto the highway, the car (we were allocated car #5, a 335i in luxury trim) demonstrates absolute ease in stretching its muscles. Despite the start-stop traffic, the 335i takes no effort in picking up pace with grace, thanks to the 400Nm on tap from 1,200rpm. Breaking away from traffic, the windy stretches of highway proved to be just another demonstrating ground for the 335i. The intuitive driving dynamics of the car instils confidence in the driver - one key attribute of the 3 Series which made it the perfect driver's car.
Despite the four-hour long drive, the overall driving experience was a relative breeze. Though a good part of the journey was met with heavy traffic, the overall driving experience was not at all hampened. The exhilarating overtaking manoeuvres made possible by the potent handling and power delivery simply makes up for it. The night was spent at the charming GH Universal Hotel in Bandung (only to be discovered in the morning lights on the second day).

Following the registration and product presentation at Cafe Aria, the media from Indonesia, joined by a group of Journalists from Singapore, set off for a night drive to the scenic city of Bandung. The drive was not all smooth running – the convoy of 3 Series and support vehicles had to seek help from the local police to get through the city roads bursting with life.
