BMW gives the 1-Series Coupe and Cabriolet a facelift
21 Dec 2010|2,950 views
Among the cosmetic changes to the facelifted 1-Series Coupe and Cabriolet include reworked headlights and taillights with LED lamps, new designs for the 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels, and two new body colours to choose from, Vermilion Red and Marrakesh Brown.
BMW has also re-sized the ventilation slits in the lower front vents to channel air into the wheel arches and create what they describe as an "air curtain" or aerodynamic screening effect across the face of the front wheels. BMW claims that the change significantly reduces drag in this area.
Inside, the facelifted 1-Series Coupe and Cabriolet features new interior trim and upholstery options, while there is also a new sports leather steering wheel with shift paddles and an M leather steering with shift paddles, both available as options.
Other minor changes include a redesigned button for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), with a symbol instead of the letters DSC, while the light control centre and the climate control panel in the centre console now feature a chrome edging.
The 1-Series Coupe and Convertible will continue to be powered by either a 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-six with 230bhp and 271Nm of torque for the 128i model, or a 3.0-litre inline-six with a twin-scroll turbocharger that produces 300bhp and 407Nm of torque.
The 135i will be offered with either a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or BMW's 7-speed Double Clutch Transmission (DCT) as an option. With the manual transmission, the 135i goes from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds, while with the dual-clutch transmission, the time drops to 5.0 seconds. The 128i meanwhile, comes with a 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, which enables it to go from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds, or 6.1 seconds if fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission.
