BMW has unveiled the all-new 1 Series hatchback and the new BMW 530i Signature at its large booth located at the centre of Singapore Motor Show 2025's level 4 main hall.
BMW's popular premium compact car, the 1 Series, has entered its fourth generation. We first drove the new model in September last year, over in Munich, Germany. The variants that we got to experience were the 120 and the potent M135.
Over at Singapore Motor Show, BMW announced the launch of the BMW 116, which puts out a Cat A COE-eligible 120bhp. Equipped with a three-cylinder petrol engine that is mated to the latest version of BMW's 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic transmission, the new 116 is able to complete the century sprint in 9.8 seconds.
The all-new 1 Series gets a completely new design, featuring rather unusually shaped kidney grilles and almond-shaped head lights
Being of a new generation, the 1 Series has a completely new design. The front end now sports new unusually shaped kidney grilles flanked by a pair of angular, almond-shaped head lights with quad-eye light signatures. With a low and long nose, the latest 1 Series' silhouette is reminiscent of the earlier rear-wheel driven generations.
Inside, BMW's Curved Display takes centre stage, this time powered by BMW Operating System 9. The new 1 Series offers generous space within to seat up to five passengers with generous legroom in the rear. Electric seat adjustments, including memory function on the driver's side are standard equipment as well.
Having undergone extensive development, the substantial chassis technology in the 1 Series ensures driving pleasure in line with the brand. With increased rigidity of the body structure and chassis connection, the 1 Series displays excellent agility, steering precision and cornering dynamics.
A new engine variant joins the 5 Series family, offering a bump in power for those seeking a quicker ride
Motor Show also saw the introduction of the BMW 530i Signature. Previously offered only in the 187bhp 520i guise, the lack of power has been one of the little gripes that drivers had with the car. The eight-generation BMW 5 Series has gotten larger, cushier and even more refined.
The newly released 530i gives customers a more powerful engine option, putting out 254bhp and 400Nm of torque. Century sprint timing has improved by almost two seconds, going from the 520i's 8.1 seconds to a brisk 6.2 seconds. For the 530i Signature, M Sport styling for the interior and exterior of the car come as standard, while the cabin features open-pored fine-wood trim in Grey Blue Ash. A total of 60 units of the 530i Signature are available.
