BMW M Town powers up Pasir Panjang Power Station

The red-hot BMW M3 CS, the most powerful version of the latest M3, made its Singapore debut on 24 June at the Pasir Panjang Power Station.
The M3 CS was the highlight of M Town, a one-day event that showcased the most iconic M models known to enthusiasts. Compared to the 'regular' M3, the M3 CS is touted as 'track-ready', thanks to the numerous upgrades to its powertrain and chassis.
Under the bonnet, the boost pressure of the two mono-scroll turbochargers was raised from 1.7 to 2.1 bar. Together with revised engine management, the 3.0-litre straight-six now kicks out 543bhp, 40bhp more than the M3.
The torque figure remains at 650Nm, but with M xDrive (all-wheel drive) now standard, the M3 CS has additional traction, enabling it to complete the century sprint in 3.4 seconds instead of 3.9 seconds.
Helping the M3 CS stand out are components that include yellow daytime running lights that are a nod to GT racing, larger air intakes, and forged M light-alloy wheels with an exclusive V-spoke design. These are available in a Matte Black or a Gold Bronze finish.
At the rear, a carbon fibre diffuser hosts a new titanium exhaust system that is 4kg lighter than the stock unit. Together with other weight-saving measures, the M3 CS is 20kg lighter compared to an M3 M xDrive.
Alcantara on the steering wheel and carbon fibre on the centre console further enhance the already racy cockpit
Inside, the M3 CS features an Alcantara-covered steering wheel, and M Carbon bucket front seats with a black and red colour scheme. Carbon fibre also adorns the centre console and is used for the paddle shifters.
At press time, only five units are officially slated to reach Singapore, available through official dealers Eurokars Auto and Performance Motors Limited. Prices are expected to start from $872,888.
Taking centre stage alongside the M3 CS were the recently launched M2, and the XM, the first purpose-built M model since the M1. As a plug-in hybrid, the XM is also the M brand's first electrified offering.
A BMW Group Asia spokesperson also announced that several units of the M2 Purist Edition, which comes with a six-speed manual gearbox instead of an eight-speed automatic, were also bound for Singapore.
Also on display at M Town were heritage models such as the 1M, E46 M3 CSL, E36 M3 and E24 M635CSi. Test drives during the day, along with a short slalom course, were also offered to select participants.
