Individually, BMW saw an increase of 21.9% with 95,823 units sold, Mini's sales rose by 19.3% with 16,045 cars shifted, and Rolls-Royce saw a massive 276.1% increase over the previous year with 252 cars sold in February 2011.
In terms of region, Europe, which is the BMW Group's biggest market, saw sales go up by 16.8% with 57,381 units sold. Asia sold 25,722 cars to post an increase of 49.3%, while North America reported an increase of 14.7% with 24,640 cars sold.
BMW also recorded strong gains in several individual markets, with its three biggest regions reporting double digit percentage growth. Germany sold 18,883 vehicles to see sales rise by 20.8%, the US saw an increase of 10.8% with 19,919 cars sold, and China recorded an impressive 72% increase over the previous year with 16,511 cars sold. Other markets to report strong increases include South Korea, which sold 1797 cars for an increase of 54.9%, India, with an increase of 68% with 620 cars sold, and Brazil, with a rise of 101% with 938 cars sold.
"Our young vehicle fleet is currently doing exceptionally well from the recovery of the car markets in many regions of the world. In particular, strong demand for the BMW X models, the BMW 5 Series and the MINI Countryman shows that our model range is right on target. We should also see further impetus from the new BMW 6 Series, which comes onto the market in the spring. We expect this dynamic growth to continue throughout the first half of 2011, and then slow down somewhat in the second half of the year, due to base-line effects," said Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing.
