CSL stands for Compact Sports Lightweight, and as such, weight has been shed from the M5 CSL. The roof has been made from carbon fibre, and several interior parts have been discarded, like the rear seats, with the front seats being replaced by carbon fibre ones. The suspension has also been slightly modified, and total weight loss stands at 50kg.
M Division’s head of development Albert Biermann was quoted as saying that the BMW M5 CSL produces around 580bhp and 542Nm of torque, with the power being sent to the rear wheels via double-clutch M-DCT 7-speed gearbox.
