Moms and dads everywhere can rejoice, as games are soon coming to BMW vehicles, offering parents another weapon to keep the fidgetiness of their children at bay.
The firm and Zurich-based cloud gaming service AirConsole are now launching a competition to develop games tailored to the in-car experience.
The competition will allow the two firms to tap into the potential of the global game developer community, and will introduce this community to the world of in-car gaming. The competition is set to be promoted at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco come 20 March 2023.
Game developers are being invited to their ideas and concepts as of today and until June 8th, 2023, via the official competition website. The best four chosen will each receive $7,172 (€5,000) for the development of a prototype.
And if the prototype proves promising, AirConsole will fully fund the development of the game to then be included on the AirConsole platform. The winners will also be invited to the BMW Group headquarters in Munich to see the result in action.
The early concept photos only show games being played on the front screen of the vehicle, but we think its entirely possible games could also be developed to work with the 31-inch Theatre Screen which would make for a mighty impressive driving experience.
