BMW recently announced that it will offer the xDrive system on the BMW 550i Gran Turismo at the Beijing Motor Show, and the German carmaker has now extended the all-wheel-drive system onto the 740d diesel luxury sedan.
The 740d xDrive joins the 750i and 750iL in the 7-Series range to offer the all-wheel-drive system, which distributes driver power between the front and rear axles maximizing the force and creating the best possible traction and agility, and works in conjunction with the Dynamic Stability Control system.
The 740d is powered by an all-aluminium 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, combined with common-rail direct fuel injection, and the unit is able to produce 306bhp and 600Nm of torque.
