BYD introduces a new EV, the Atto 2, to its lineup, just three weeks after the launch of its Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid in Singapore.

Hot on the heels of BYD's Sealion 6 launch at Shangri-La Singapore, the brand has once again expanded its lineup of environmentally friendly vehicles with the new Atto 2 SUV.

Held at Zouk Singapore, a nightclub, with public partygoers, influencers and the media invited, the message that BYD is sending out is clear: The Atto 2 is a car for the young, modern city drivers.

The Atto 2 features BYD's signature Dragon Face up front, and boxy rear-end

Also called the BYD Yuan Up in China, the BYD Atto 2, like the Atto 3 that we are familiar with, sports BYD's signature Dragon Face design up front. The design of the Atto 2 blends dynamic curves with a bold and rather boxy rear-end to result in a distinctive shape.

The full-width taillights on the Atto 2 are inspired by the Mobius ring, which the brand says symbolise endless luck for the driver and passengers. Above all, this distinctive light signature sets the chic SUV apart from others on the roads.

At 4.3m long, the Atto 2 has a rather compact footprint that makes it easy to manoeuvre

Measuring in at 4.3m long, the Atto 2 is a compact SUV that will make driving in an urbanised location such as Singapore a simple task. With a tight turning radius, you would not have to worry about manoeuvring around tight spaces or making U-turns.

The Atto 2 has been designed for maximum space within, along with a premium interior

Like the other cars that BYD offers, the Atto 2 also features technology such as the brand's in-house Cell-to-Body technology where the proprietary Blade Battery is integrated into the vehicle's structure to enhance torsional rigidity.

The Atto 2 also features BYD's '8-in-1 electric powertrain', which maximises space within the car while boosting efficiency. This powertrain puts out a Cat-A COE friendly 100kW (134bhp) and 290Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100km/h in a respectable 9 seconds. Equipped with a 51.13kWh battery, the Atto 2 has a WLTP-City range of 345km - not exactly plenty, but more than enough for a city runabout. 

Inside, cabin space has been maximised due to the brand's e-Platform 3.0, with a compact battery layout. Headroom and legroom has been maximised in this compact SUV. Built with vegan leather and premium materials, the stylish interior of the Atto 2 also features a large smart rotatable screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The BYD Atto 2 Compact SUV is currently available for sale, with an introductory price starting from $158,388.
