Introduced to the public during the opening day of the 2025 Singapore Motor Show on 9 January, the BYD Sealion 7 was BYD's first mid-size SUV here, featuring a premium interior and chic, stylish design. The popularity of the Sealion 7 is clear to see, as it has currently overtaken the previous hot favourite, the Atto 3, in sales.
On the exterior, the BYD Sealion 7 features a sharp front-end with the brand's iconic 'X-shaped' face, which also underlines the design on the BYD Seal. The suave looks of the Seal executive sedan have been extrapolated to create the face of this handsome mid-sized SUV. Over at the rear-end, the Sealion 7 gets a sloping roofline that ends with a taut rear-end, in line with the current trend of stylish coupe SUVs.
Being a mid-sized SUV, the Sealion 7 is 375mm longer and 50mm wider than the ever-popular Atto 3 - offering an even more spacious cabin for families that want a larger car.
Built with premium materials, the interior of the Sealion 7 is reminiscent of the Seal's, but unlike the Seal, the 10.25-inch driver's display is integrated into the Sealion 7's dashboard
Inside, the Sealion 7's interior is pieced together with premium materials, similar to what you'll find in the Seal. The shifter lever is particularly reminiscent of the executive sedan, however, the Sealion 7's interior has its own flair. Unlike the Seal's freestanding driver's display, the Sealion 7's 10.25-inch display is integrated into the dashboard.
The interior features a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
BYD's famed rotating infotainment display can also be found here, featuring a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The main thing that differentiates the Cat A Sealion 7 Dynamic from its more powerful brothers, is the absence of ambient lighting within the cabin.
Equipped with a smaller battery and a lower output, the Sealion 7 Dynamic manages the century sprint in 11.5 seconds and has a range of 405km
While the Sealion 7 Performance variant stole the show at launch, the Cat A COE Dynamic variant has the potential to appeal to the masses with its great value. The newly introduced Sealion 7 Dynamic puts out 100kW (134bhp), allowing it to complete the century sprint in 11.5 seconds. Equipped with a smaller battery (71.8kWh, as opposed to 82.5kWh), the Sealion 7 Dynamic manages a WLTP range of 405km, down from the 480km and 460km range of the Sealion 7 Premium and Performance variants respectively.
For the launch of the Sealion 7 Dynamic, BYD has collaborated with the North East Community Development Council (NE CDC) for a fundraising campaign in conjunction with BYD's '100 Hours Sale' event.
From 4 September till 8 September, BYD will be offering exclusive discounts and freebies; BYD will also donate $1,000 to NE CDC for every car sold during the event
