BYD Sealion 7 launched in Singapore in two variants

Enjoy the ride height and presence of the BYD Atto 3, but think it could use the sharp styling and more elegant interior of the Seal? Having to choose between one or the other won’t be necessary anymore, since the latest member of the family has arguably found perfect middle ground between both.
Yes, after surprise teasers late last year, BYD has officially launched the Sealion 7 in Singapore. The car celebrated its reveal on the opening day of the 2025 Singapore Motor Show (9 January 2025), and can be viewed and test driven from BYD's local showrooms - including BYD Suntec, where it was already spotted by Sgcarmart the day after it was unveiled. Two variants are available at launch, with the all-wheel drive 'Performance' one capable of completing the century sprint in just 4.5 seconds.
The Sealion 7 most closely resembles the Seal (among the models that we get in Singapore), with its X-shaped face and pinched front
As its name suggests, the Sealion 7 counts itself as the latest of the ocean-inspired models to be launched by BYD here - after the Dolphin and Seal - but it's the latter that you'll notice it shares the most resemblance to.
Particularly distinct are its pinched front and 'X-shaped' face, the latter of which contains the same, slim headlamps and bracket-like daytime-running light signatures worn by the Seal. Fully in line with modern automotive trends, the Sealion 7 is also the sort of machine you could classify as a 'coupe-SUV' thanks to its sloping roofline. For a car of such sizeable dimensions, its (lack of) height may perhaps be surprising - it's only 1,620mm tall.
As mentioned, however, the Sealion 7 is positioned as a mid-sized SUV - and it certainly should have the space to match. Its 2,930mm wheelbase (a good 10mm longer than the Seal's) is the longest of any BYD sold in Singapore thus far, while its 1,925mm width should also ensure good shoulder room on the rear bench. Extra practicality points come from the dual offering a 500-litre boot and a 58-litre frunk.
As a mid-sized SUV, it's not just space that the Sealion 7 aims to offer on the inside, though. Occupants should find themselves in a premium-feeling cabin that mirrors the levels of build quality found on the Seal, albeit with slightly different design cues to set both cars apart.
One example is the 10.25-inch driver's display, which is recessed nicely within the dash (the one one the Seal is a freestanding piece). This is paired to a central infotainment display which feels like more typical BYD-fare: A 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Par for the course of all BYDs, the Sealion 7 lands with generous levels of standard equipment too, including a head-up display powered front seats with ventilation and heating, a 360-degree parking camera, and a 12-speaker DYNAUDIO sound system. Its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality - allowing the car to power external devices - should also come in handy for family outings to the park or to the beach.
Built atop of BYD's dedicated platform for EVs (the e-platform 3.0), the Sealion 7 launches with two variants - the Extended Range Premium and the Performance - but drivers should already find power plentiful in the former.
Here, a single motor sends 230kW and 380Nm of torque to the rear wheels, allowing the car to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
Those craving a bit more adrenaline, on the other hand, will likely enjoy the bump in performance unlocked by the extra electric motor on the Sealion 7 Performance, whose 390kW and 690Nm of torque are sent to both the front and rear axles. (You'll also be able to distinguish the Performance variant with its larger 20-inch wheels, visible front brake callipers, and the '4.5s' badging beneath its right tail light.)
With both variants powered by the same 82.5kWh Blade Battery, the rear-wheel drive Sealion 7 Premium boasts a WLTP-rated range of 480km - but those who crave more power won't be losing out on too much too, since its all-wheel drive Performance is only 20km short, with its rated range of 460km. Either way, recharging the Sealion 7 promises to be a hasty affair, since said battery can support DC charging at up to 150kW.
A full suite of advanced driving assistance systems rounds out the effortlessness drivers are likely to feel behind the wheel, including Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, a Door Open Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The BYD Sealion 7 is now on sale in Singapore, with prices for the Premium variant starting at $209,888 (with guaranteed COE).
