Whether it's a compact hatch like the Jazz or an MPV like the Freed, Honda Singapore has made steady efforts to extend its efficient e:HEV hybrid powertrains to more models in its lineup.
Thus far, however, arguably the most recognised name in the family had yet to receive it - that is until today, with the introduction of the all-new Honda Civic e:HEV. The hybrid sedan is now on public display for the first time at the Honda x Sgcarmart Premium Brand Showcase in Waterway Point, during which buyers can also look forward to exciting and exclusive roadshow offers.
This marks the first time that the Civic has been offered with Honda's e:HEV self-charging hybrid system
But let's get back to the Civic e:HEV first.
As its name suggests, the Civic e:HEV swaps out the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine in the pre-existing Civic for a new 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid one instead. While the combination of its two electric motors and four-cylinder engine produces more power, this new powertrain also promises better fuel efficiency.
Introduced with 2025 model year styling tweaks, the Civic e:HEV gets a new grille and front bumper. It also wears its own variant-specific rims (different from those on the Civic 1.5 Turbo)
Already available for order at the roadshow, Sgcarmart understands that the Civic e:HEV will not replace the Civic 1.5 Turbo, but rather, be offered as the better-specced variant above it. And visually, a number of styling cues already tell the two cars apart.
For starters, the Civic e:HEV gets its own specific rim designs, arrives with 2025 styling updates such as a new front grille and lower bumper, and is fitted with full-LED headlights.
Step in and you'll also be treated to a sunroof, as well as powered front seats (with eight-way adjustment for the driver and four-way adjustment for the front passenger). Finally, the drivers themselves will note that the Civic e:HEV gets an additional 'Individual' Drive Mode on top of the three pre-configured ones on the standard Civic, which unlocks the possibility for extra customisability.
Elsewhere, the Civic e:HEV enjoys the same modern features as its twin, including a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless phone mirroring, and a full suite of driving assistance systems.
The latest-generation Freed is also one of the latest cars to be offered as a hybrid. This compact MPV is capable of 121bhp and 253Nm of torque
But even if you're not looking for a family sedan, Honda's roadshow at Waterway Point offers a variety of other cars promising to suit varying buyer needs.
Co-headlining the roadshow as well is the all-new Honda Freed e:HEV. Its 1.5-litre hybrid engine is good for a healthy system output of 121bhp and 253Nm of torque, while still achieving an impressive fuel consumption figure of up to 19.6km/L. Given the car's 42-litre fuel tank, drivers could be looking at more than 800km from a full top-up.
While landing with significantly overhauled cutesy styling, the Freed e:HEV continues to present lots of practicality to larger families.
Apart from the multitude of cubby spaces in the car, the second row also gets a central armrest, handy storage pockets and USB-C charging points, and even window shades.
Other standard highlights include dual powered sliding doors, an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen (which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), full-LED head lights, and the Honda Sensing system, comprising safety assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.
Step up to the more-expensive HE7 trim, and you'll even get LED Active Cornering Lights, leather upholstery, and a rear cabin ventilation system.
Not keen on a hybrid MPV or sedan? Also making an appearance at the roadshow are the facelifted HR-V, facelifited City, and Jazz Crosstar e:HEV
Visitors to the roadshow will also be able to get up close with the recently facelifted Honda HR-V and City, and also the rugged-looking Jazz Crosstar e:HEV.
Best of all, Kah Motor is offering exclusive roadshow promotions - headlined by a $5,900 discount and a free upgrade to guaranteed COE for all models.
