Chevrolet reveals the Aveo RS concept

The next generation Aveo is expected to be launched in 2011, and the Aveo RS concept, which will be showcased at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show, previews the look that the new family hatchback will receive.

The Aveo RS concept features a whole host of aggressive design cues aimed to hit back at critics of the current car, and features a large dual element grille, three-dimensional taillights, a roof spoiler, a front bumper with large air vents, brushed aluminium accents, and 19-inch alloy wheels to match the large brake callipers finished in a shade of Boracay Blue. Other design highlights include aerodynamic side mirrors with integrated turn signals, hidden rear door handles, and a centre-mounted exhaust.

On the inside, the Aveo RS boasts black leather upholstery, front sport seats, metallic accents, and blue contrast stitching. Other features include an asymmetrical LCD readout trimmed in milled metal, aluminium-trimmed side vents, and a folding rear seat.

The Aveo RS has been given the 1.4-litre turbocharged Ecotec engine from the Cruze sedan, which produces 138bhp and 200Nm of torque. Performance figures have not been released, but power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
