Citroen has revealed a new C3, designed by and for India and South America.
The new localisation effort comes as the firm seeks to develop better products to cater to specific market needs and expand its reach in the two high-growth markets.
The new Citroen C3 borrows heavily from the world of crossovers for its styling, with numerous protective panels sculpted into the bodywork, combined with wheel arches that give the vehicle a more imposing presence
The large wheels, high ground clearance (180mm) and short overhangs help to cope with poor road surfaces of India and South America.
At the front, the car sports the same design language found on Citroen's most recent models such as the new C4 and C5 X. It features a dual-stage light signature, with the double chevrons that become chrome bars stretching across the width of the vehicle to the head lights. These in turn, split at the sides to into Y-shaped items.
The Citroen C3 also sports a steeply raked bonnet to ensure very good visibility, useful when dealing with heavy traffic in large Indian or South American cities. The high position of the driver's seat is another feature further enhancing external visibility.
And those seated here will also notice the car's horizontal dashboard, designed to heighten the impression of space.

The Citroen C3 sports a 315-litre boot, a one-litre glove box, two two-litre door pockets at the front that can accommodate a one-litre bottle along with other objects, two one-litre door pockets at the rear, two cup holders and a storage compartment in the centre console, as well as two cup holders in the rear that can become smartphone holders.
A 10.2m turning circle also makes the Citroen C3 optimal for urban areas with its high manoeuvrability and compact shape. Agility is a key requirement for countries like India where U-turns are common.
No drivetrain details have been provided as yet, however, Citroen promises a line of modern and efficient engines, adapted to specific needs in each region where the C3 will be sold.
