The first round of bidding for January saw Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums jumping up for Cat B and E, while Cat A took a slight dip.
The strong upward jump in premiums for Cat B and E could be attributed to the fact that the 2025 Singapore Motor Show is set to kick off this weekend, as well as the fact that some dealers here (such as BYD Singapore and Volkswagen Singapore) have already started ramping up their sales activities ahead of the show itself. Increased interest in new car purchases as well as an increase in expected purchases from the show can be seen in the fact that the total number of bids received for Cat B has not reached this high since January 2024, while the total number of bids received for Cat E has not reached this high since 2021.
