Hot off the recent The Car Expo, this first COE bidding session of October 2025 has seen premiums for Cat A and B continue to climb, even after the two categories have risen dramatically in the past months. You'll also note that this climb comes on the back of a three-week long wait since the last bidding session, a factor that is likely to also have contributed to the healthy gains the categories made this session.
At least premiums for Cat E eased a little this session, after seven consecutive sessions where it steadily climbed upwards.

Cat A COE - Reaching new records
Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, climbed this session by $9,102 (7.7%) to reach $128,105. Premiums for the category are now at record highs.
The current premium now stands at 29.6% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of number of bids submitted exceeded the number of successful bids this round by 103%, far higher than the 12-month average of 54% for the category.
Cat B COE - Also climbing along
Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, climbed this session by $4,110 (3.0%) to reach $141,000. Premiums for the category are currently at their highest for 2025.
This new climb means the current premium for the category is now 21.0% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 45%. This is lower than the 12-month average figure for the category of 50%.
Cat C COE - Also seeing gains
Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, climbed this session by $1,800 (2.5%) to close at $74,301. The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 55%, higher than the 12-month average for this category of 52%.
Cat E COE - Finally seeing a dip
Premiums for Cat E, the open category, have finally slipped this session. This slip, however, only totals $493 (0.4%), brining the final premium for the category to $140,009. This figure is still close the the $158,004 that the category reached in October of 2023.
The current premium for the category is now 19.8% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 82%, lower than the 12-month average figure for the category of 87%.
Prevailing Quota Premium
The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
