Cupra has revealed the first images of the DarkRebel showcar.
The car combines sensual surfaces and sharp lines, said to deliver a concentration of energy and purpose. This body is finished in an enigmatic liquid body colour, that sports a dark violet tone which evolves depending on how light touches the body.
This play on light is carried over to the use of illumination on the car. Here, an illuminated logo features, alongside transparent crystal-clear pieces made from a host of triangular elements (a deconstruction of the Cupra logo). These appear as the car's daytime running lights, as well as on the sides of the concept car.
Up top, the car gets a sailboat-like central spine, also made from a crystal-clear transparent material that connects the front and rear of the car, emphasising its sporty appeal.
Following this sporty exterior, the cabin of the car comes with what Cupra describes as Supersport bucket seats. These sport headrests covered with a 3D knitting fabric and are supported by a structure made from a crystal-clear transparent material and copper inserts.
These are mounted low but come with a long base to offer lateral support for the entire leg and. The seats are also said to be able to adapt to embrace occupants to offer maximum comfort and grip during sporty driving. A steering wheel inspired by the world of racing and the interactivity of the world of gaming also features here.
On the roof of this cabin, a thermal camera sits, which monitors the interior and automatically adjusts the temperature and airflow via gills located under the windscreen.
These gills are lined with a breathable stretch fabric developed in the world of high-performance sport, which allow their visibility to adjust depending on the amount of air passing through them. Ambient backlighting is also employed here to communicate if the interior is heating up or cooling down.
Finally, the DarkRebel has been revealed to deliver three unique experiences via its user interface.
The first, termed 'Exponential Square', amplifies the high-tech experience through a modern digital cockpit, with futuristic graphics as well as a 3D customisable avatar; while the second, 'Exponential Cube', embraces the car's sporty nature by offering real-time racetrack positioning, lap timing, and performance data. Finally, the last 'Exponential Infinite', will allow users to enter Metahype - Cupra's space in the metaverse when the car is parked or charging.
