Daihatsu has unveiled the D-Base concept, which will make its way to the Tokyo Motor Show. Daihatsu's proposal for a new small basic car conforms to Japan's small kei car regulations, and will achieve a regenerative braking-assisted fuel economy of 40km/L. 3,400mm long, 1,480mm wide and 1,490mm high, the D-Base concept is powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine.
The D-Base concept reportedly shows the styling of the next generation Daihatsu Mira, Daihatsu's kei car that is one of the most fuel-efficient in its class.
Daihatsu is also showing three van concepts built to kei car regulations, called Hinata, Tempo and Noriori. All three sit on the same front-wheel drive platform and are built to showcase the amount of space that can be obtained in such a compact vehicle.
