Distinctive and Dynamic: Porsche unveils the new 911 GTS model lineup
25 Jun 2021|1,738 views
Approximately a year and a half after the launch of the award-winning Porsche 992, Porsche will be welcoming the sporty GTS variants to its 911 lineup. The 911 GTS is more powerful and visually distinctive, and features better driving dynamics than ever.
On the exterior, a multitude of black and darkened elements form a defining characteristic of the 911 GTS. For instance, the spoiler lip and the GTS script on the doors and rear of the car are painted in black silk gloss. The headlight rims and daytime running light surrounds are also darkened, and the car is fitted with standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus. The rear lights are unique to the GTS models.
Underneath the bonnet, the 911 GTS's six-cylinder boxer engine delivers 473bhp, which is 30bhp more than the current 911 Carrera S. When paired with the eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch automatic transmission, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe accelerates from zero to 100km/h in an astounding 3.3 seconds. A seven-speed manual can also be specified for the 911 GTS.
The GTS-specific suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management allows for damping responses to be made at lightning-quick speed. Similarly, the high-performance braking system taken from the 911 Turbo ensures that the vehicle's stopping power matches the increased performance offered, bringing about the superior transmission of longitudinal and lateral forces.
Driving dynamics can be further improved with the Lightweight Design package, which will be available on the GTS for the first time as an option. Up to 25kg is saved through the installation of carbon fibre reinforced plastic bucket seats, lightweight glass for the side and rear windows, and the removal of the rear seats.
Inside, dark materials abound throughout, in line with the stealthy exterior design profile. Race-Tex microfibre elements on the racing seats, steering wheel rim, door handles, and armrests create an ambience that is both dynamic and elegant. GTS lettering embroidered in contrasting stitching add decorative flair to the interior.
In terms of connectivity, the latest generation of the Porsche Communication Management system offers numerous improvements in operation and user experience. For example, the updated intelligent voice assistant can now recognise speech made in a more natural manner. Android and iOS users can now enjoy full connectivity with the inclusion of Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
The Porsche 911 GTS is now available for sale, with prices starting from SGD$618,888.
