Exclusive colour edition for the Audi R8 LMS GT2
07 May 2021|2,068 views
Six characterful colours transform the most powerful model of the R8 LMS into individual collectors' items.
For the first time in its 13-year history, Audi Sport customer racing is offering such a colour concept to its customers. With production restricted to one model per colour, Audi Sport's Colour Edition guarantees individuality and will not be issued a second time. At 630bhp, the Audi R8 LMS GT2 is the most powerful of the four models in the brand's customer racing portfolio. Its free-revving, production-based V10 engine powered the car to its first two European victories in the GT2 season opener at Monza's Royal Park on 17 and 18 April 2021.
Audi Sport customer racing will build the Colour Edition in parallel with the standard version of the R8 LMS GT2 at the Neckarsulm site. The chassis for the racing version is an aluminium-CFRP composite design with a steel roll cage built in the same plant as that of the production model. Audi Sport manufactures the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated engine at the Gyor site in Hungary. In Heilbronn-Biberach, a team from Audi Sport customer racing applies the finishing touches, transforming the model into a race car in accordance with GT2 regulations.
