F-150 Lightning turns into a monster truck for Halloween
03 Nov 2023|130 views
One Ford F-150 Lightning owner has taken Halloween to a whole new level, preparing not just his home but also his truck for the festivities.
This 'monster truck', nicknamed Dr. Frunkenstein, is the creation of Product Design Director Ryan McManus, and made possible thanks to the F-150 Lightning’s Mega Power Frunk, which decks the front cargo area of the pickup truck with four 120V outlets.
These are utilised by McManus to power the display atop his F-150 Lightning, which makes use of a TV that displays a video loop of swirling mist and red lightning. The pickup also pours out smoke from this frunk, enhanced by a strobe light, all powered by the vehicle itself, adding mystery to the 2.4m tentacles that sprawl out of the pickup's side and rear windows.
McManus has also added lighting effects to the underbody of the truck. These will flicker along to any music that is played inside the vehicle. McManus is said to typically utilise the frunk of the F-150 Lightning to carry the sports equipment of his children, while the vehicle’s zone lighting is also said to be utilised when soccer fields need a little extra light when practice continues after sunset. McManus also utilises the Ford’s Pro Power Onboard to power his lawn-care equipment.
