Ferrari has revealed the new, 829bhp mid-engined Daytona SP3.
A new car in the 'Icona' series, the Daytona SP3 harks the legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the first round of the 1967 International World Sports Car Championship.
The car sports a dome-like cabin, set into a sensual sculpture with sinuous wings emerging boldly either side.
The clean double-crested front wings of the Daytona SP3 are described as a nod to the sculptural elegance of past Ferrari sports prototypes of the likes of the 512 S, 712 Can-Am and 312 P, while the butterfly doors sport an integrated air box to channel air to the side-mounted radiators.
Further back, these doors merge into the powerful muscle of the rear wing, creates a pinched-waist look.
The rear however, is where the Ferrari Daytona SP3 truly stands out. A series of horizontal blades here create the impression of a light, radical, structured monolithic volume that lends the Daytona SP3 a look that is both futuristic and a nod to signatures from Ferrari's DNA.
The taillight assemblies are likewise made up of a horizontal luminous bar beneath the spoiler and integrated into the first line of blades. These pair with the twin tailpipes positioned centrally in the upper part of the diffuser to add to the car's aggressive character and further aid to visually broaden the car.
In the cabin, the Daytona SP3 has been designed to offer all the comfort and sophistication of a modern grand tourer whilst keeping the styling language quite minimalist. A clear break between the dash area and the two seats broadens the cabin visually.
Up front, there rests a slender, taut dashboard seems almost to float within the upholstery, with an upper shell that sports a clean, sculptural look, separated from the lower shell that sports all the touch controls.
Powering the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is the engine from the 812 Competizione. Here, it is said to be the most powerful internal combustion engine ever built by Ferrari, delivering 829bhp with the typical exhilarating power and sound of a Prancing Horse V12.

Valve operation in this engine is also way of sliding finger followers, derived from F1 and developed with the aim of reducing mass and availing of more high-performance valve profiles. This works with a redesigned intake system to deliver performance at high rpms without any sacrifice to torque at lower engine speeds.
Upgrades have also been made to the engine's direct injection, ignition, and lubrication systems.
New Pirelli P Zero Corsas, developed specifically for the Daytona SP3, have been optimised for both dry and wet performance with a particular focus on the car's stability in low grip situations.
