First-ever music track recorded using a car

For the first time in history, R&B singer-songwriter Sinead Harnett has become the first ever artist to record and mix a track solely using a car, transforming a Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric car into a music studio.

Thanks to the near-silent cocooning cabin and contoured rooflining, Harnett was able to set up the studio and begin re-recording a version of her hit single, Thinking Less. The finished track was then played back on the car's impressive sound system.

The artist used some of the car's features to her advantage: The baguette holder was used to mount her microphone, and the digital display was used to perfect the silky rhythm sections of the track.

In a nod to its iconic predecessor, the latest pure-electric Renault 5 sports an illuminated battery charge display on the bonnet in place of the cooling grille, rugged wheel arches, and squared-off exterior design, which are all on display during Sinead's recording session.

The re-recorded track can be found on the Renault U.K. website, and the car itself is set to launch in the U.K. in spring 2025.
