Those looking for adventure-ready vehicles from Ford will soon be spoiled for choice. After revealing the E-Tourneo Courier multi-activity vehicle in May 2023, the firm has now revealed a new Nugget camper van.
Based on the new Ford Transit (read about the E-Transit here), the Ford Nugget is available with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that utilises a 2.5-litre engine and an 11.8kWh battery to deliver a total system output of 230bhp. A 168bhp diesel engine paired to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox will also be offered in selected markets including the U.K.
The Ford Nugget also gets independent rear suspension for improved refinement and handling, and will also be available with all-wheel drive for customers that want to take on the wild outdoors.
The cabin of the Ford Nugget continues to have been developed with expertise from vehicle conversion firm Westfalia. Here, the kitchen section adopts an L-shaped layout, and features a drawer fridge as well as a new integrated hob and sink unit. The new kitchen design is said to offer 20% more dedicated worktop space than before.
Sleeping accommodations here include a flip-up mattress, which has been redesigned to increase available headroom in the kitchen. The heated rear bench is also now track-mounted, so conversion into a bed is easier than before.
At the rear, the Ford Nugget also now gets a hot/cold shower outlet as standard, although the tailgate privacy tent here is optional.
Also available as an option for the Ford Nugget is a solar roof that will help to power the vehicle's interior features or recharge the leisure battery. The vehicle also comes with a dedicated 7.0-inch colour touchscreen in the living area that enables easy checks and control of the Nugget's heating, water levels, battery level and lighting.
