Former BMW designer wins Lifetime Design Achievement Award

The EyesOn Design award was presented to Chris at the automotive design show in the U.S.A which celebrated its 25th anniversary where nearly 300 of the best-looking vehicles including the fabric-bodied GINA designed by Bangle were featured.The Award is presented annually by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO), by vote cast by vehicle designers whom have previously won.
Bangle rose to fame as BMW's design leader introducing the ‘Bangle Butt’ and the ‘flame surfacing’ styling - which were often deemed controversial despite overtaking rival Mercedes Benz as the global leader in premium car sales. Since 2009, he is heading his own design studio in Turin, Italy.
"Chris was constantly exploring new ideas and innovations in design, as seen in the GINA concept," expressed Alec Bernstein, director of advanced communications, BMW DesignWorks USA.
