GM pulls the plug on the Chevrolet Orlando
06 May 2010|8,004 views
The announcement comes as a surprise to the industry, with Chevrolet saying that they will focus their production efforts on the Equinox, Traverse and Malibu models. The Orlando will still be marketed in Canada, Europe and Asia however.
Chevrolet's product marketing director for small cars and crossovers, Margaret Brooks, said "The best thing to do for Chevrolet is to focus on the brands we've already brought to market: the Traverse, Equinox, Malibu and, soon to come, the Cruze. We feel that with those vehicles, Chevrolet has plenty of options for the modern family."
The Orlando is a seven-seater crossover MPV that is based on GM's Delta II platform, with a concept version first unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The similar-looking Chevrolet Volt MPV5 electric concept was recently showcased at the Beijing Motor Show, and a production variant will be revealed soon.
