GM to put Chevrolet Orlando into production

GM has also said that the Orlando will get a hybrid version, using the same plug-in hybrid technology found in their Volt family car.
"I would point out that the Chevrolet Orlando is built on the same basic vehicle architecture and component set as the Chevrolet Volt," said GM's vice president of global program management, Jon Lauckner. "So if it makes sense, it's certainly something we can take a look at."
Even without any hybrid technology, Chevrolet says that the Orlando is already capable of a highway fuel economy figure of 5.88 litres per 100km for the standard petrol version, and diesel variants are also expected to be offered.
Sharing the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan, the Orlando will be able to seat up to seven adults and will be powered by a range of engines from 1.6 to 2.0 litres. The most powerful model will be a 2.0 litre turbo diesel with 150bhp and 320Nm of torque.
The Orlando will most likely be built at GM's Hamtramck plant in Michigan. However there is still a chance that a cheaper imported version may be sourced from South Korea.
