The Lexus RC F coupe is the Japanese marque's most powerful V8 model yet, and is primed to move from motor show stardom to road-going sensation. The car is being readied for launch in the U.K. before the end of the year with order books currently open and first cars are expected to be with customers from late January 2015.
The RC F will be available in the U.K. in two versions: RC F and the RC F Carbon.
Both are equipped with the same 5.0-litre V8 power unit that is capable of delivering 450bhp and 520Nm of torque. The lump was developed specifically for the RC F and is matched to a specially calibrated eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission.
The RC F's role as an authentic high-performance machine is witnessed in the standard fitment of Brembo brakes, Sachs monotube shock absorbers, an active rear wing, Lexus's Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system and 19-inch forged alloy wheels.
The interior is littered with Lexus 'F'-themed details, including the steering wheel, pedals, trim and seat design. Key options for the RC F include Adaptive Cruise Control and a Mark Levinson surround sound system.
On the other hand, the RC F Carbon benefits from additional performance features including a torque vectoring differential and Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) components comprising the roof, bonnet and rear spoiler.
This is the first time torque vectoring differential is utilised in a front engine/rear-wheel drive car, giving the driver the choice of three operating modes to optimise traction and vehicle control in different scenarios. The RC F Carbon is distinguished by a dedicated 19-inch forged alloy wheel design and alcantara upholstery, while the Mark Levinson surround sound system is fitted as standard.
