HMG expands facilities to accelerate sustainable innovation
31 Jan 2025|82 views
Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) has expanded its testing and research and development (R&D) facilities in Europe by more than 25,000 square metres.
This is in line with advancing its strategic focus on sustainable mobility and future-oriented expansion with the completion of its test centre extension at Nurburgring and the upcoming opening of the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre's (HMETC) new Square Campus in March 2025.
The latest expansion at Nurburgring enhances HMG's capacity with an additional 834 square metres of cutting-edge testing facilities, including new workshop areas, specialised laboratories, and high-voltage EV charging capabilities.
As well as that, the new Square Campus - located in the Rhine-Main region - is designed to set new benchmarks for the automotive industry, with the state-of-the-art facility housing HMG's largest four-wheel noise, vibration, and harshness dynamometre. The new facility will also incorporate eco-friendly materials, photovoltaic panels, and heat pump systems, as well as a modern working environment featuring hybrid workspaces, a rooftop garden, and smart working systems.
These facilities exemplify HMG's broader commitment to achieving zero-tailpipe emissions in Europe by 2035, with the expanded infrastructure allowing HMETC to accelerate innovation in EV technology and high-performance systems, as well as upholding the highest standards of engineering by focusing on environmental responsibility.
