Honda has revealed that its latest CR-V will see market launch in Europe later in 2023.
The SUV was revealed at the same media event in Offenbach, Germany that saw the reveal of the European-market ZR-V as well as the e:Ny1 all-electric crossover.
Honda states that this new CR-V is wider, longer, and taller than the outgoing model. The car has also grown a 40mm longer wheelbase, which translates to more interior space for passengers, a 16mm increase in rear leg room, on top of an increase in luggage capacity.
The new CR-V will also arrive in Europe with Honda Sensing 360, the company's all new, omnidirectional safety and driver assist system, which removes blind spots around the vehicle and further contributes to collision avoidance by reducing the burden on the driver.
Top story for this new Honda CR-V for Europe however, is the fact that it will now be offered with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
This drivetrain will utilise a 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct injection Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, and can be driven up to 82km on electric power alone. This is facilitated by a battery pack that can be charged via an 11kW charger to 100% capacity in 2.5 hours of charging.
A full hybrid option will round off the CR-V lineup in Europe, and this variant will also utilise a 2.0-litre unit alongside a power-dense lithium-ion battery and two compact, lightweight electric motors to deliver a system combined total of 204bhp and 335Nm of torque.
