Honda unveils test production line for new batteries
25 Nov 2024|201 views
Honda has recently unveiled its demonstration production line for all-solid-state batteries, which will be developed independently by Honda and geared towards mass production.
The line was constructed on Honda's property in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Honda aims to determine the basic specifications of the battery cells and begin application of its all-solid-state batteries to electrified models that will be introduced in the second half of the 2020s.
The battery production process will adopt a roll-pressing technique, unique only to the production of all-solid-state batteries. Honda also aims to reduce battery production costs by implementing measures such as production control technology.
Construction of the facility building was completed in the spring of 2024, with almost all the key equipment now installed. Production is expected to begin in January 2025.
